Here are a few pics from the tour. The lack of explanations just killed it for me. The drop in the rating is because I did not enjoy this one as much as it’s predecessor. Except for occasional thoughts about his hidden womanhood, Eon never deviates from the path of manhood. Has the foul Deceiver energy poisoned his soul, or is something else driving him towards violent bouts of madness?
Additionally, the relationship developed a bit too fast.
However, I am back now with some great news. Hardcoverpages. Even though there are many books, movies, and historical events that Eon draws from, this book is special in spite of that fact. We clicked immediately and had such a hoot travelling across the USA together.

Here is an example of telling: Her power as a woman, as a friend, as a lover. Dela and Ryko, Kygo I gobbled Eona up! I hope some of that is useful in your writing! Finally, I can tell you what I have been sitting on for so long: It’s not easy, but it’s definitely doable especially with fingernails.
Then again, there is another option: Ido was one great whopping surprise in this book, it’s only a really good writer that can take you from seething hatred towards a character to pity to almost-kinda-liking him. The book is by no means perfect, however. Only Eon’s status as a potential apprentice keeps him in his position of safety. There she is training as a Reclaimer with the covert Dark Days Club and must learn to fight the dangerous energy-wielding Deceivers.
For me she was a success, but my knowledge of Asian culture is probably heavily pop-culture influenced so take my opinion there with a grain of salt. It’s definitely a high fantasy novel with a lot of world building. It’s a complicated relationship between two powerful people who are all too aware of each other’s power. The main character is a girl pretending to be a boy so there is a lot of information about gender roles but I This is a pretty chunky book for young adult but it was a fairly easy read. And I hate how eonw she was with Ido, then she went with the emperor and was all ‘omg I love him! Are these traits simply attributed to our gender? Fast forward two years later, to when my book goddess Tatiana writes a glowing review of a fantasy novel called Eon: Women have no place in the world of the dragon magic.
Aug 06, Krystle rated it it was amazing. Eona is trying to decipher the mystery of the dragons with the help of Dela’s translations; she knows she has had two female dragoneye ancestors, Charra, and the traitor Kinra.
Dela, aloson acting as a man for the whole book, is still a woman inside, is always referred to as a “she” and I liked how Goodman kept the intrinsc difference in the Contraire. Because no one is perfect. I keep thinking about the characters, and thinking about the story and what happened. Well at least I did. Damn was this girl stupid.
